Location : Charoen Nakorn  Bangkok,   Thailand

   Year : 2017

   Description.

Charoen Nakorn Residence is private residence located in Bangkok Thailand. The site location is next to Chao Praya river which has both advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are about views and environment. The disadvantages are about flood, land erosion etc.

We work out very closely with architect and owner to solve flood and erosion problems by raise up all function rooms for living till level clear from the 100-year flood and leave the ground floor plan to be all maintenance and service rooms. And the landscape need to play with flood level by indicate area can be flood and area for survival.

Main entrance, The driveway entry get in under the entry courtyard through the parking garage and step up by staircase through feature pavilion to garden entry courtyard with simple clean classical style.

At the backyard, has been divided to 2 terraces. First is pool terrace, second is garden terrace.

“Pool terrace” is the space that safe for flood. Connect visual & activities from inside building, create dramatic scene by design pool side floating pavilion to be focal point and viewing edge.

Go down under pavilion with narrow staircase which is transition space to “Garden terrace” will see the river view and leisure space. We design this terrace to be simple and multi-purpose functions. There are terrace for sun bath, lay down into swing bed structure and space for outdoor dining or small party.

Since this terrace can be flood, so all elements such as daybed , lantern , swing bed can be removed and at the edge we plant the groundcover and special plants which roots can protect soil erosion.
